Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I'm a fairly good cook, why do I need a personal chef?
A: To have more time for the things you'd really like to do rather than do the shopping, cooking and cleaning for your family. Life's too short not to enjoy every minute of it.
Q: Why do you prepare the food in my kitchen?
A: The law requires personal chefs to use their clients' kitchens unless the chef has access to a licensed commercial kitchen. We bring everything we need including our own pots, pans, and utensils, as well as all the ingredients necessary to prepare your meal(s).
Q: How long will you be in my kitchen?
A: Generally, it takes 4-7 hours to prepare a week's amount of food. For private dinners and parties, the amount of time depends on the menu and the number of attendees.
Q: Do I have to be at home?
A: Actually, most clients prefer to be at work or away on personal matters during the cooking process. This allows them to enjoy their free time and helps the chef to remain focused on the job at hand and to operate safely and more efficiently.
Q: What do I have to do in preparation for your arrival?
A: Simply have a clean kitchen work area, an empty sink and room in your refrigerator and/or freezer. If you would like us to use your containers, it is important that they be thoroughly washed and ready in advance. Otherwise, we will provide containers at a moderate cost.
Q: Are you insured?
A: Yes. Chef Kathy carries liability insurance for the security of her clients. She also has a current ServSafe sanitation certificate.
Q: Do you offer Gift Certificates?
A: Yes. Gift certificates are available in any amount you choose, for any of the services provided by Chef, Please!
"Chef Kathy has put on our Oktoberfest party the last three years for more than 30 people, and it's been a fantastic success. From the appetizers to the roast pig and all the sides, to the fantastic desserts, one couldn't ask for more. She handles everything, and we just enjoy!"
